Hi there! I'm Nicky, a creative soul with a passion for bringing ideas to life.

It’s fair to say my creative foundation began in childhood, drawing, sculpting, painting and the countless weekends helping my Dad around our home. I learned how to make things sturdy…. and level! It made perfect sense to study Industrial Design, where I learned to blend functionality with aesthetics in innovative ways. In the face of globalization, and let’s face it – the rent doesn’t pay itself - my direction pivoted to web design and later fashion design and pattern making while living in California.

My path eventually led me to the furniture industry in a role that brought all my skills together. It was during this time I discovered a love for breathing new life into old pieces through restoration. Being surrounded by the luxurious colours and textures of upholstery fabrics, my curiosity for surface design grew. These experiences not only shaped my design perspective but also deepened my appreciation for creating spaces that are meaningful, personal and full of life.

I am a proud Mamma of two beautiful humans and one fur baby! Becoming a parent, infused my world with even more inspiration and purpose. Throughout the years, I’ve created clothing, costumes, crafted home furnishings, restored furniture, created nooks and built outdoor play spaces, always guided by a desire to honour family, history and the stories held within our homes. From my kids’ infancy to independence, I’ve found joy in every stitch and stroke.

In 2022, emerging from lockdown with a fresh wave of enthusiasm, I returned to study. Following my passion and a serendipitous moment, I signed up for a surface pattern design course. That study gave me the technical and creative skills I use in my surface pattern design work today.

I'm incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by a supportive community of  friends and family who inspire me daily. With their encouragement, I continue to create beautiful things, infusing spaces with style and personality. It's a journey I cherish, filled with endless possibilities and boundless creativity.
